This was a cute little picture/introductory chapter book! I loved the cartoonish illustrations and the big eyes reminded me of the newer-ish Disney movies like Tangled. I think this series would make a great introduction for children to different careers, and how they can do anything that they set their minds to.

My favorite part though was all of the information in the back of the book. The recipe, craft, glossary and facts about Pakistan were a great addition to better understanding Yasmin's culture.

Oh what an absolutely adorable new early chapter series from @saadiafaruqi and @hatemaly Yasmin is creative and a young maker ready to put her own spin on projects and problems that need solving. I love how we are infused in Yasmin’s culture and how @saadiafaruqi allows readers to learn more about Yasmin’s language and country. I cannot wait to introduce Yasmin - I know a lot of students who are going to be thrilled to meet her. Looking fwd to the next instalment. A must for school libraries!

Easy reader. Pakistan-American. Collection.

This under 100 page book contains four stories starting Yasmin. Yasmin and her family are Pakistani-American. They speak a combination of English with Urdu mixed in. Yasmin's mother wears a hijab. Yasmin goes to school with multicultural kids of various backgrounds and religions. In the end, Yasmin is an ordinary second grader whose biggest challenges involve finding her mom at the park and trying to do art.

A really great book for any easy reader ready to start picture books. At the back of the book are a dictionary, recipe and craft project.

A fun read, I hope they make more!

Will definitely be adding to my school library as a fun, positive identity representation to include in our transitional chapter book section.

Great for kids who have a good start on reading skills but still like lots of pictures. Full color illustrations adorn every page and the text is large. The storylines are charming, weaving in details about Yazmin's life as a Pakistani-American girl effortlessly. The back of the book has a glossary and pronunciation guide along with a recipe for one of the traditional drinks discussed in the stories.

This is a really cute book about a little 2nd grade girl, Yasmin, who is Pakistani American. She has different adventures that make her have to think things through to reach a solution. In one she has to learn to read a map. In another, she has to figure out what to do when she rips some of her mother's clothes. And my favorite is when she realizes that when given a project that involved building structures, that she could build the bridges that connected all the other buildings that others had built.

Good way to allow kids to see themselves, in a positive light.

Loving family, and fun spunky young girl.
