High Fantasy Academy Reverse Harem

This book takes place in a world called Kalispe (I'm probably spelling that wrong) where humans and the supernatural exist and there is a large collection of supes, vampires, shifters, witches/mages, demons, fae, and everything in between. Our FMC is a rare almost extinct Artic Fox Shifter who grew up around wolf shifters who ostracized her for being different. She's 22 and an herbalist and doesn't think she'll ever come into her powers or find her mate/s.

Well turns out she finds one Mate right in the village (village idiot #1) This spoiler talks about things that happen in the first couple of chapters...
Spoiler Her Mate, the Alpha wolf shifter's son, immediately rejects her. Don't get too excited because this is not a rejected mate romance, he stays rejected and unredeemable.

After her run-in with the mate from hell, she learns that she will come into a power and gets to attend (you guessed it) The Academy! This is where she gets to start over and stop living as an outcast in a village of haters.

She ends up with a large number of mates
Spoiler 7
but I had no issues remembering them all or being able to tell them apart, it worked for this story.
The potential Mates...
Spoiler
Rowan: Dragon Shifter, Fire Drake Dean of the Academy who hates all other Dragon Shifters. He's the alpha leader type.

Rhett: Incubus Demon with the strongest known pheromones of his kind, Councilor at the Academy who has past trauma that made him not trust easily, especially women. He's the sexy irresistible type who also has a sensitive loyal heart.

Damien: Shadow Demon, Student psycho-stalker type, liked his character his type is usually my favorite but his shadows bring an extra kink to the bedroom that I love. Thier like living limbs or tentacles.

Thorn: Ice/Winter Fae, Student, and Fae Prince. Can hear thoughts/ read minds and control the ice element. He's her childhood best friend, he met the FMC when they were six and continued to meet up with her regularly in the woods outside of her village. Childhood sweetheart who's fiercely protective type.

Alister: Vampire, Teacher, Controls Blood, Can shift into a Bat and do something with Birthstones? Teacher at the Academy. Not shy about his feelings toward the FMC. I didn't get to know him well enough in this book to decide his type yet, but I think he's probably a bit of a trickster.

Kian: Necromancer who also gets visions of the future/past/present. Student who hates how his people deal with death. Shy and awkward at first, very sweet and slightly nerdy. Cinnamon Role type.

Lachlan: Werewolve (not to be confused with wolf shifter

Ya know I’m intrigued by the plot and the world that this is set in but.
I
Hate
Damien
I hate him so intensely.
Maybe the fmc likes him because she’s been sheltered her entire life but like what?
The only thing that saved this series was the rest of the harem that are tolerable.
Peeved me off that some of her harem are her teachers but…. It’s fine I guess as it’s a fantasy…

Absolutely amazing and I didn’t want it to end. Although things moved very fast (which I usually don’t like) the author still somehow managed to make the chemistry jump of the page. Great relationship and world building. There might be a couple more guys than I prefer, but again, through great writing the author was able to make each distinct. I recommend.

What a great start to a new series!

Wren has been isolated all of her life with the exception of Thorn. This makes her a bit naive and very innocent but she's also kind and open minded after being treated a certain way all her life. She really blossoms when she starts making friends and meeting other guys. The guys are all a little broken, with hurt pasts and some are a little crazy but OMG! They are sweet and protective of Wren and so, so hot when she interacts with them. Honestly I liked all of the characters and am curious to see how all of the mates will pan out. Also, the mystery of what's going on is intriguing - war is coming but from several fronts - why and what role will Wren and her guys play? All in all a good read and I highly recommend.

Great paranormal academy romance

Every now and then you read a book that surprises you and this was one of those books. I was expecting a regular shifter/paranormal academy romance, something I’ve read quite a bit of, but this ended up being really good. I feel like I was drawn into the story right away and I adored the characters. Each of them was so distinguishable and I love that the author used multiple point of views so that we were able to know the characters on a deeper level. I’m looking forward to more of the other point of views, especially of those who weren’t as prominent in this books.

What I really enjoyed with this book is that the author used the concept of fated mates but it wasn’t an instant attraction, you know who is going to be her mate thing. It’s suspected and you can kind of assume who will be in her harem. The ones that are chosen could be surprising, or at least the order of them. I love that little aspect that the author tossed in.

I also liked that the author focused on character development, getting to know the different characters and the world building before she brought one of the bigger conflicts to the surface. It had been brought up naturally within conversations but until certain events it wasn’t the main focus. Some of the other issues actually seemed more important until they weren’t.

I enjoyed the author’s spin on a paranormal academy romance. The author is a great storyteller and she was able to completely capture you within the story and it’s like no time passed at all. The book doesn’t end on a cliffhanger, it’s more of a let’s see what will happen.
