It feels like the series loses steam at this point.
The narrative of all of the Anne books have a meandering pace and little-to-no plot in the traditional sense of the word, but in this one it felt especially directionless. There isn't any real character development and it didn't feel like there was a "point" in the way earlier books in the series had. It wasn't bad, but the usual scattered, wholesome, pleasant, slice-of-life scenes were not underpinned by any new theme or discernable character arc.
