I loved it! It's definitely a new favorite. The writing is BEAUTIFUL. I am so jealous. It's exquisite. The descriptions are near perfect. The characters and events introduced fit so well that you can't imagine it being any other way. Maybe it's the detail that draws me in so much.. I love Wes Anderson films. Every detail is perfect and you know that he took the time to perfectly craft it. That's how this book is. Every detail is perfectly crafted. The subject matter may seem morbid to some, but it's fascinating. I think it would have been nice if the girls were a little better fleshed out as individuals rather than as a collective group. I have a good feel for Lux and Cecilia and maybe even Bonnie to a degree... but Therese and Mary seem to just be barely mentioned. The collective narrator isn't my favorite, but it's exactly the thing that was needed to tell this story. I can definitely see myself reading this again. I'm recommending it to everyone who loves literary fiction, especially those who enjoy good detail and description.

Nope. I did not enjoy reading this one. I really hoped it would be a discovery into the motivation of the girls' suicides, but all I got was a creepy stalkery narrative about teenage girls with no resolve.

Well, what did I expect from a male author 🤷
