This is a non-fiction account of an agent who infiltrated the Sein Fein and lived to write about it. Enough said! If familiar with the Northern troubles will find this fascinating. All the characters, Adams, McGuiness and others are represented.

This book was a very fascinating insight into an actual spy’s life. As an American with great knowledge of the troubles, this book puts you right there in Carlin’s mind rather than having it be explained to you as something of the past. It felt almost real time as I read it. Although the Troubles are quite recent history, they often are written about as if they are some ancient history that doesn’t affect us. This book goes right up to present day (2019). Whether you believe every word written here or not, it is fascinating insight into a life that hopefully none of us have to live ourselves.
