This book was pretty enjoyable, but also a little bit overrated. The message in it (though repeated often) is great, and I completely understand why it would be a comfort book for some people. I love the representation and I liked the characters too. It was relatable and gave me a small identity crisis, and I think it can be helpful to people struggling with their sexuality. It openly talks about sex without it being an erotic plot point, which should be done more in my opinion.

However, I think the writing is mediocre. Everyone felt really immature despite being university students. They fix all the fights with grand gestures and make a huge deal out of everything instead of properly communicating their feelings. I understand it's a YA novel, but that's not really my thing. These fights were major plot points and it got repetitive, as there was not much else going on.

Alice oseman has done it again! This is a brilliant masterpiece which captures teenage life in all of its beauty, and each character is an inspiration.

I wasn’t a huge fan of the narrative voice but so much of it was so accurate to real experience and hit so hard that I can’t not rate it in spite of that.

The MC's fixation on romance in the first few sections of the book was a bit tedious. I get that that is the case for some ace folks, but given that ace rep is so rare it would've been nice for a more gradual self-discovery. Also, it felt like a missed opportunity not to include rep of other aspec identities – all that was said about demisexuality was that the MC had to Google it. The existential crises and fears about being alone were relatable and I appreciated the focus on the importance of friendship in the final section.
