I read this over ten years ago, and remembered loving it enough to keep on my shelf. Reading it again, I was just as moved by these two stories of love, loss, and occasional cross-dressing.

It’s a nice book, probably it wasn’t for me or at least it didn’t speak to me at this time in my life as luckily I haven’t had to mourn a loved one (fingers crossed) and mourning is the main topic of this book.
In this book many strange things happen and at first I was wondering “who would act like that” but then, as I kept reading I stopped questioning as I was immersed in Yashimoto’s world and even the strangest of things didn’t surprise me anymore and they felt just right.
This book left me a sweet “aftertaste”, and I’m glad I read it.

These are two little Japanese novels. I liked reading them but I didn't get attached and sometimes I felt that I couldn't connect to what the characters were going through. The main characters are young people who have lost someone close to them and their Journey through that.
