Lori Rader-Day ALWAYS delivers. I may not always love each of her books to the same extent, but once I have started one, I can't put it down. I really enjoyed Death at Greenway despite initially being sad that it was a historical as that is a change from what I am used to from her. I don't have a thing for Agatha Christie (shockingly, I don't think I've ever read one of her books) so I wasn't pulled in by the subject matter. I had it for awhile before I started reading it, and when I finally did it was just on the strength of her past books and the very good reviews--still with reservations. But once I was in, I was hooked. I loved Bridey and was intrigued by Gigi. The plot kept me guessing. It was just outstanding and I highly recommend to Rader-Day fans, Christie fans, and fans of Simone St. James' earlier works (though this is WWII and not WWI era, there are some similiarities). I hope to have a new Rader-Day to read soon.

3.5 stars - good historical fiction but kind of meandering and loosely structured for a whodunnit. Several of the POV shift chapters didn’t seem at all necessary and kind of a distraction.

If you like Agatha Christie and WWII pick up this book. The true part of the story is that Agatha Christie offered her country home to house some of the children being evacuated from London. A London couple and two nurses were assigned to the house to care for the children. The author takes it from there and weaves a mystery around the village.
