I absolutely love the Kimberly king books! A perfect mixture of suspense, love and drama. I can’t wait for a third! I am rooting for Kimberly and Sam!

A young girl goes missing on the quiet back road of Black Heart Lane. Her grandparents don’t report her missing until the next day, leaving Detective Kimberly King and Sheriff Sam Walker rushing to find her safely. When the outcome doesn’t turn out how they wish, they follow a string of clues desperate to bring justice... until another young girl goes missing. However, with all clues leading no where, can they solve this bizarre case and bring comfort back to their small town?

This is the 2nd book of the Kimberly King series and I knew after I read the first, I had to keep it going and dive into this book. Much like the first book, we follow Kimberly King, a former NYPD detective, who’s moved to the slower paced lifestyle in a small town in Oklahoma. I think what I love most about this series is that Kimberly is relatable. Clearly, I’ve never been a police officer, but I can literally put myself in her shoes - feel her emotions, understand her thoughts. She’s a very likable character!

The story for this book flows really nicely. There’s no moments of not understanding how something plays out and the conversations are very detailed and written well. As a mother, this was a hard book to read as it deals with child death and kidnapping. But, it also touches on the importance of mental health, which can be appreciated these days.

Another very simple and quick read! I highly recommend this book and the Kimberly King series.

Loved this, had already read dead woman crossing an immediately read this when I had the chance. Can't wait for the next book to come.

I’m only giving this 4 stars instead of 5 because of how mad I was after the last chapter. My romance reader brain is furious. I need more closure.
