It's the first book of a trilogy so this is an introduction to the charas and the world, and not the best book. This trilogy improves with each book, so the third one is the best and longest. A bit of an inevestement. I remember this one hocked me in with the start, lost a bit of my interest in the middle and suddenly pulled the rug under my feet at the end which was fantastic. I went to read the second one, mostly wanting to know about the world and what happends after the ending and then it didn't lost my interest once, devouring page after page. One, if not the, my most favourite fantasy books. I re-read them at least 5 times.

It's just the first, so the content is actually more disturbing and explicit as you keep reading the other books. It ends well, but it's dark fantasy for a reason. Still, it isn't used to shock or gratuitely I don't feel.
