This was a fun read, if less "romance-y" than expected - really more of a murder mystery! I wish the end was a little more tied up - I don't mind a series, but I prefer the books be relatively close-ended. Lots of fun action and I was definitely curious to unravel the story. Also, does Stacy Abrams do ALL THE THINGS?! How.

I actually really enjoyed reading this book! At some point I was sort of more invested in the mystery than the romance, but I still enjoyed the romance. Really pageturning read. Occasionally some moments were a little cliche but I had a great time with this book and immediately ordered the sequel.

In order to help her stand in mother, Kell Jameson returns to the town she fled sixteen years ago. Before she even gets to the orphanage, she is stopped by Sheriff Luke Calder, a Chicago cop who fled to Hallden. Sparks fly at their first encounter--outwardly angry sparks, inwardly hottt. Flames remain between them throughout, even during the short boy-loses-girl phase. Kell is a complex character. Luke is a little too perfect, despite his Troubled Past.
Reckless is compelling and has lots of great characters. I didn't mind the non-ending ending, but other readers might.

This book wasn't written for me - so don't trust my rating. You may love "romance" novels. Mostly my rating is based on an ending with too many unanswered questions, and I don't intend to read a sequel. For me, structuring a novel is a mark of intelligence. I'd vote for her to be my governor.
I loved the mystery part of the story. It sometimes overshadowed the romance, but I didn't mind too much. The relationship felt very real and developed at a good pace. I want to read the rest of the books as certain things were not resolved and I was left wanting more.
