Wonderful series. I’ve enjoyed Amelia and co very much. This is the true end - the next two books are set earlier in time. I’ll miss the Peabody-Emerson clan.

Nit picky error in this one - Henry II (my fav king) asked to be rid of his turbulent priest (Thomas Beckett), not Edward II.

Charla’s name drifted to Carla in the last book and back to Charla here, which makes more sense as a nickname for Charlotte.

I've read all of the AP books, I love them and the feisty Amelia.....the books are a bit predictable, but I do love her characters.

Elizabeth Peters is unique in that her stories and characters still are entertaining in volume 18, when most series fizzle by volume 8.

Excellent. One of the best in the Amelia Peabody series; also sadly the last in the series.

I really loved these books and couldn’t stop to write reviews - I sped read my way through all 20 without stopping. The books are clever, funny, filled with historical fact and running jokes and thrilling adventure. I think it’s the first series I’ve read where o liked them all. They all get 5 stars and I am legitimately sad there are not more for me to read. I am going to copy paste this review for the rest - they are all amazing.

Great fun with Amelia Peabody and her extended family! With the added details of the discovery of King Tut’s tomb!

I felt a bit conflicted giving this only three stars since I still really enjoyed it and I thought it was a fitting end chronologically to the series.

As someone who has followed the Amelia Peabody series from the beginning, this book worked for me because I love the characters and how they interact. But as far as the plot goes, there was not much suspense or action. The discovery of King Tut’s tomb was a highlight, though the Emersons had little involvement in it. Overall, I would have liked the stakes to be higher for our characters.

Also, I could have gone for a bit more romance and a bit less of Emerson throwing temper tantrums. And more of Sennia and less of the twins. I don’t think Sennia ever really got a chance to shine as a character in the series.

I’m sad to know that this is it for the story, though I still have two more... I wish I would have read them chronologically now but next time I will try it.

The actual plot was a bit much at times but that's to be expected when the Emersons are on an adventure. I really enjoyed this installment of the series. It was fun to see how the Emersons were "involved" in the finding and excavation of King Tut's tomb. Not to mention, I do love when the entire family is out for the adventure.
