I'm on book 6 of 10 and i love it <3 all the characters are great but i hate how the author is always giving you the back story when she introduces a character again.. its annoying for those of us who retain the info to have to read it all over again. I don't know that I like sookie to much, she's kind of dumb.. but everyone else surrounding her is great lol

Read this series many years ago. The writing style isn't the best, by any means, but the books are thoroughly enjoyable, particularly if you're a fan of the TV series True Blood. The show turned away from the books, which is probably why I preferred the first few novels but the rest aren't bad. A little bit raunchy, a lot of drama and very addicting. It's tempting to reread!

I love True Blood. It's a great TV show. But it's completely different from the books it was based on. True Blood is so dark and violent and sexual, and while the books also contain those elements, there is more of a feeling of whimsy and lightheartedness that makes the books so much fun to read. While this isn't classic literature by any means, it's a great summertime read when you're looking for something simple and fun that you don't have to think too much about.

I read these books fast - 1 a day over the holiday break.
They are a fun relaxing read.
I'm not sure how to rate mysteries in realtion to other fiction.
If I were only rating mysteries. I'd give the series 3 or 4, but lumped in with all fiction I have to go 2.

Decided to work my way through the Sookie Stackhouse series again, and have enjoyed it just as much as the first time I read them. I read the books first, then watched the TV series, which I also loved! I know that people either love or hate this series, I am on the love it side of the fence!

#1 Dead Until Dark- included a brilliant description of someone we all know, "Denise wasn't truly pretty, but she was so flashy and confident that it took a while to figure that out."
It was written a bit too simply to hold my attention. The sex scenes were more Cinemax, not imaginative. And the character Sookie has an interesting talent but is otherwise incredibly dull.
I continue the series because my friend said it got better.
#2 Living Dead in Dallas- It was a little better. Still the supernatural and the sex were neither super.

Ok, I only read the first three, but I plan to read (some of?) the others, and I'm sure they'll be the same. These are entertaining vampire trash...somehow they feel even trashier than Twilight because somehow it doesn't seem like you can read them ironically. I like True Blood (the TV series based on these books) and the books don't really spoil you for anything because they're so different.

I say these were amazing not because they were the best-written books ever, but simply because I could not put them down. I read all nine that are currently out in the space of about a month and I enjoyed every minute.
