I was gifted this book which meant it was already an obligation read... and I was BORED OUT OF MY MIND!!! There was maybe 30 pages total that I actually felt I might be enjoying the book before it would do a 180 on the characters and the setting. I don't have the time and energy to devote to this book since I have a reading goal. If I read more casually maybe I'd suffer through it.

I’m pretty upset about the changes they made to the stage, but I’m happy the things they brought back in the movie. 

Mad that Fiyero was made white (in my opinion it was a huge plot point same with him being white).  Also hated that they reduced Elphaba’s activism.

The pacing is another the place. A three month love affair is told in great detail in one chapter in the next 7 years is passed over in a sentence. 

Individual chapeters are strong and internally consistent but they don't make for a consistent whole.
