The amount of times that the author uses the phrase "her artist's eye" drive me crazy. I could overlook that though. The thing that had me DNFing this book is that Bella suddenly takes over certain aspects of the mafia war plot whatever when she starts the book as an artist that wants nothing to do with this world. It's unbelievable that after being married for 2 days Matteo would trust her enough to let her handle anything especially given her age and inexperience and him being the Don. It was too much to suspend disbelief.

It was so sloooow.
Also very repetitive in regards to a subject...
"Oh? So and So's been taken...that's fked up dude...what you gonna do? ... Oh, you gonna just keep repeating yourself at least 3-4 times before something is done?" Nah, not here for it..
I was so freaking bored that I kept turning away to scroll through TikTok.
I love Mafia romances and age gap is a fine trope but this was dry.

DNF at 46% this book is going no where. The “plot twists” are mechanical and phrases are repetitive. This author didn’t know what kind of book they wanted to write and half the writing could be left on the editing room floor. Your writing shouldn’t make me feel like a teacher grading a free write essay.

Silent Vows started like an amazing mafia book. Bella’s dad has been killed and before his death, Giovanni made his best friend promise to take care of Bella when he dies. Whether she likes it or not, marrying Matteo is her only hope at protection. But when the other Families are trying end the Russo bloodline by ending Bella, secrets get leaked. And not everything is as it seems, blood isn’t always family, loyalty isn’t always expected and secrets are always there.

This book felt like it was supposed to be written as two different books. The first half went along with what we all thought the plot was about…Bella marrying Matteo. But when the second half of the book comes along, another secret comes to light that shows more secrets than we got answers. Actually, no secret really gets answered, we just have more questions. I mean I have drawn my own conclusions from the very beginning but I really wanted to know the answers!!!
Also, phrases get overused a lot when describing things.
That being said, I am a glutton for punishment and almost HAVE to read the second book because I NEED answers to these secrets!!!

I enjoyed this book. However, I feel like something could have been explained more. I enjoyed Bella's character she was underestimated a lot but proved herself.
