I love this book and this series. I think that maybe this book and book 2 could’ve been split into 3-4 books to make it more digestible, but I think using the audiobook is a good alternative if the length is intimidating
I wish she would’ve explained more about the prison & what happened to the other prisoners after it “died”. I love the sense of mystery behind it but were there no other prisoners in there? Did I just miss it when listening to the audiobook? I also would’ve loved to learn more about the school & the guild but I suppose that would’ve made it too long.

Overall fantastic. As far as the audiobook goes, sometimes the woman narrator was almost reading too much into the emotion that it could be jarring, and the man was a little breathy, but I still thoroughly enjoyed their interpretations of the characters!

This was a heartachingly, beautiful, epic conclusion to the War of Lost Hearts.
I never could decide which side of the conflict I actually stood on. Everyone was so morally grey. No one in this book was free from sin or mistakes, but everyone wanted to accomplish something important and worthwhile. I sympathized and understood both sides. There was no obvious "villian" and that made it so much more.
I cried so often, my heart feeling like it was constantly breaking. There was so much pain, raw and real.
I don't want to spoil anything for anyone but if you've read Daughter of No Worlds and Children of Fallen Gods then this end is EVERYTHING.
And if you are finding this book and wondering if this series is worth a try, it absolutely is!
Max, Tisaanah and Aefe have a special place in my heart. This book was absolutely amazing!
