Ricky: "So what're you saying??"
Karl: "I'm saying...I could eat a knob at night."
.
So first, I would like to preface this by saying that KARL PILKINGTON IS POSSIBLY IN THE LIST OF MY TOP 10 FAVORITE HUMANS. It's incredible, the way the man thinks.

Anyway, this is my 2nd book for the @philmythreadathon and 2nd book of his that I've read after the first Idiot Abroad some years ago. This one in particular contains transcripts from The Ricky Gervais show podcasts (with Stephen Merchant and Karl, of course), and some excerpts from Karl's diary. As expected, this book made me laugh out loud - the banter, the antics, Karl's weird logic and their reaction to it - especially when the prostate exam got mentioned again LOL.

All in all, it was a solid read, and if you need a good laugh then pick this book up. It's not "An Idiot Abroad", but it's still pretty good.

RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Love the podcast. Did I need a transcript of them? Not so much.

I adored the podcasts. I adored An Idiot Abroad and The Moaning of Life. I'd say I'm a huge fan of Karl Pilkington. But I think this book it was more interesting to me having some idea of who the people in this book are from the shows. Without that background, it would have been more difficult to get a real sense of character. It was an enjoyable and easy read. I'm going to pick up Karl's latest book.

Loved this book. I've been listening to the podcast now and then, and I can't get enough of it. Karl's logic is so interesting to read about. Aside from that, he is actually a good writer and he can draw very well. It was so much fun to read.

Is Karl stupid? wise? Depends on you. But he sure makes me laugh. And the last bits about why go into space and the diary are literary classics.

I think 3.5 stars. I love listening to the podcasts and radio shows, however, when written out in a kind of script format came across a little dry. The extra bits that I'd never heard/read by Karl before were brilliant, however there weren't enough to bring the rating up.

This book was a good laugh. Karl is such an odd character. Karl is a top writer too. For those who enjoyed an idiot abroad, this is a good place to start to find out about Karl's other work.

Laugh-out-loud funny, and a reminder that humour often comes through harsh treatment of others. Thankfully, Karl Pilkington seems to have embraced his role in this game.
