I really, deeply enjoyed this whole series. The story is really interesting, as is the entire world the author has created. The names are always fun and unusual. She did a great job on the characters - they actually do mature, they're [for the most part] genuinely likable, and they're talented and capable but in no way infallible.
All the books are practically rolling in symbolism, but Donita did a really good job of subtly integrating it with the story so it's clear, but interesting and not too preachy. I like it!
Surprisingly to me, I learned probably more about friendship than anything else reading this series. It was a good refresher. And there were other really good messages, not all what i was expecting from a fantasy allegory.
While I was seriously irked at several plot twists in this last book, i still found it enjoyable, and i loved the other four. I would highly recommend the whole series. Interesting, creative fantasy and solid Christian fiction.

I loved this conclusion to one of my favorite series in the fantasy genre.

This book really ended the series in a very good way. Concluded everything nicely.

The characters had to deal with a lot in this book. They did handle it all the best that they could. Some of the characters have an amazing things in them that you never expect they have in them until the end.

There was a lot of twists and turns in this book and it was amazing. Sad to be done this series because it was an awesome series.

Very good fantasy read! I quite enjoyed it. Probably didn't help that I read this one first, since it is the last. I'll probably get more out of it once I read them in order.

Was scrolling through read books and had to leave a message for people intending to read this book

While i tried to like these books, and loved the species variation - so cool, Everything character based was awesome, the heavy handed preaching and shoving of christianity down the throat of the reader was awful. I could barely finish when the final jesus moments occurred with paladin, who was not at all well written. Donita, if you're going to do a jesus analogy, please don't make your character literally jesus. its not inventive and ruined the story for me.

On top of that, the characters had no volition, and would be PUNISHED for making the wrong decision. the point is that their actions lead to retribution naturally, not that some god figure actually punishes them.

This was quite an unsatisfactory book, not just on its own but as the end of the series too. It feels like the characters haven’t changed at all in the last 5 years. They start at the same place as we left them. That is entirely unrealistic and feels very awkward. We also have the same problem as in the previous books where old familiar characters are back and we are supposed to feel attached to them, but I don’t.
The plot sounds interesting and has potential, but falls flat. I didn’t like a few plot choices the author made in this book and felt there were still holes left in the overall series (questions that are never answered). Furthermore, there were many aspects of the plot that were easily predictable. The issues available for her to address in the series that I would have loved to see (like feelings of abandonment and dysfunctional parental  and in-law relationships), she never touched on.
