This was just a fun and cute fantasy story about a young girl who has magical powers to manipulate bread. Someone is after magical folks and she ends up in the middle of it all.
It's great for young adults since it does have some good lessons about believing in yourself and also learning about others who aren't like yourself.
I recommend to any young reader and anyone who'd like a cute fantasy story with battles involving bread.

I was hoping this would be a new favourite book—the concept of wizardry and magic in the area of baking was enticing to me. Especially the sourdough aspect. Bob was great. The gingerbread man and those that came after were also great. I had a fun time reading about the magical baked goods which had so much personality despite never saying a word. But I found the plot itself to be kind of dull and predictable. It was written in a very juvenile fashion, with one too many bathroom jokes for my liking. Maybe I would’ve enjoyed this more when I was younger. In summary, 10/10 for concept… but the execution was weak.

Bathroom jokes. God’s name is misused throughout the story. And of course, wizardry and magic.
