I previously rated this book five stars when I read it back in 2011 or 2012, but after a lot of the things I've been hearing about it, I feel like this is one that I would need to read again to understand more of the inappropriate themes behind it. Yes, Roxane Gay's book did pique my interest on this.

Loved this book! Filled with characters to Love, others to hate, to want to smack on the back of the head, and even a few who you thought you might hate, yet turned out to be one of the good ones! Excellent peek into the lives of those in the deep south in the 60's. I read this as an audio book and strongly recommend it. the readers were excellent. I didn't want to let these characters go!

I really enjoyed this story. These poor women having to deal with every mood swing of the people they worked for. It is so interesting to see inside a home from the perspective of an outsider. Highly recommend this story.

I really enjoyed the story. I fell in love with the characters Aibeleen, Minny and Skeeter and was rooting for them the whole way through! The ending was bittersweet in closing one door another has opened for each of these phenomenal women. I also saw the movie and enjoyed it as well. I know movies can't fit everything in them, so I'm glad I read the book and got the whole storyline the author had written. Very well written book, it definitely drew me in.
