I read this book in the year or so before turning 20 and it turned my whole perception of myself upside down. Returning to it 10 years later has me feeling all sorts of feelings: disappointed that I am not feeling that life changing energy again. Excited because the lessons are so good and I am so happy to remember my own belonging and authenticity. ashamed because there was so much that I forgot. All of these feelings are welcome here and as I foray into my early early thirties, I am reminded again that I am whole and I belong.

I thought this was a good refresher on living authentic and meaningful lives. There are some things that I found really enlightening and other things that didn’t ring true for me. That’s the point of books like this, to find what works best for you. I think there are some really good points that can help reframe our thinking about how we spend our time.

My first Brene Brown book but not my last. She has a very special message and an effective way of relaying it.

I’d say this book is a 2.5 star. I didn’t hate it - I think if I had read this closer to its publishing date, when I was 20, it would have been helpful.
There was some good lines and thoughts throughout but I may be too advanced in my own wholehearted living path to have gotten a lot out of this book.
