This book was great but it isn't great for an elementary school library. It is more on the older kids side.
Just like the first book, I feel very ambivalent toward the book. It is by no means a bad book, but I could not get into it.
I love this book so much! It was one of my fastest reads- I seriously couldn’t put it down! One of my favorites!!!
A satisfying sequel to an inspirational story. I enjoyed the perspective changes even more this time. The headings were in a different font that seemed to reflect each students story.
I love Mr. Terupt's wisdom in hands on teaching through life skills instead of simply teaching for a test. Those lessons learned will stay for life.

I LOVED this book just as much as the first one. Sometimes when I read a subsequent book by an author I am worried it won’t have the same “magic” as the first one which I feel so in love with. This book didn’t disappoint. All the students are back in the second book and it is interesting to see how their lives have changed after the events in the first book. Cannot wait to read book 3 and eventually book 4!
A strong sequel to a great series. However, some things were influential and not the best for kids..... But it was a very intricate and captivating book.
The first Mr. Terupt book was something really special, something that I have felt compelled to shove into the hands of unsuspecting children and even convinced my senior librarian to use for our upper elementary book club. It's easily in my top 100 best books for kids. The follow-up is not magic like that one was, but that's a little much to ask.
The same kids are together for six grade with their teacher, and as they enjoy their last year in elementary school their problems are a little more mature than the year before. Lexie has started hanging out with high schoolers who think she should smoke cigarettes with them and stuff her bra to look older. Danielle's family may lose their farm (note: this involves a thread about Native Americans that isn't handled great. Okay, it's handled pretty badly). And several crushes have sprung up, among the kids and among the adults.
There's not really a big overall plot to this one, which I think is for the better. Trying to replicate the first book entirely is too tough to do. It was still wonderful to see more of the characters, and also to see a middle grade that will talk about a girl getting her period.

I’ve been reading this to prep for the new one that came out recently. This was one of my favorites in middle school and still doesn’t disappoint. It’s a beautiful series and I’m glad I can still understand and relate now that I’m older.
I enjoyed this sequel, though probably not as much as the first. I liked reading from the 6th graders' perspectives. My 8 year old son enjoyed the first book and started this one but told me it was too boring. I'm glad he stopped it though because there was quite a bit of talk from the girls about going through puberty.
