I actually started this book with low expectations. I expected smut without much of a plot. Well, there wasn't that much smut in this book, but the plot and the romance really positively surprised me! The book is well thought out, the characters are complicated and interesting, the world building works really well and I really enjoyed the chapters in the beginning, where the author set her scene. And then there's the twist at the end. I can't wait to read the next book!

That book is crazy…..OMG!!!!!! 🤯
I’m without words and still processing what happened.
Calle/Caly had me completely fooled. And Mendax is insane.
I did not see that ending coming

pretty stupid. I'm having a bad luck reading year so far and feel in a total book slump.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.75
this book was good. OK the ending was good and it was easy to piece together whats really happening in the story once I got to the ending and everything kind of came to the light. A lot of things was like oh wow that’s crazy so you’re telling me the whole time she already knew all about this realm all about this world and she literally wasn’t who she really said she was. hopefully book 2 picks up right where we left offf ok i love me some mendox

Wow! It starts off slow & innocent & then gets good, really good & then punches you in the face with shock & betrayal. Nothing is what it seems!

HOLY PLOT TWIST!

I have never been so caught off guard before when reading a book.

So excited for the rest of this series.

4.75⭐️s - finally! A book to pull me out of my slump! While the beginning I was like “hmmm idk about the hype for this one..” then it hit me and kept hitting me like a freight train. So many twists and deceit and questions. So much tension and build up. This was a fantastic read, I do wish it had of started different a bit but overall, fantastic!!

I
I don't even know dude lmao.

when i started this book, i had to check four separate times if i was reading the right book, because the back of it promises a dark fantasy romance about a girl and a fae prince, but about AN ENTIRE THIRD OF THIS BOOK is like.. contemporary, small town hallmark movie.

i almost skipped the first 70 pages. i almost DNF'd it but i feel like this book was a fever dream that trapped me and i couldn't get away because i was so annoyed about the first 70 pages that i just wanted to read it out of spite to finally see wtf was supposed to happen. the first like, 50 pages of this book could have been condensed into like one chapter, seriously.

the MMC was great, loved him, no notes, very big bad evil guy. one of my favorite tropes is 'i wasn't supposed to want you and now im tortured over it' and that's basically him to a fault.

the twist at the end got me but i think it got me because i was gaslighting myself into thinking the horrible pacing of the first section of the book was just bad writing so whenever they showed me signs of it i just chalked it up to being confused because the writing was bad... im not sure how to tell you to take that, but there it is lol.

anyway im gonna read book two.

painful to get through omg. booktok led me wrong
