A reread.... one of the most heart-wrenching stories......
Rose on a mission to Kill Dimitri after he becomes Strigoi, visits his homeland russia eets with his family, witnessing what could have been only to become his prisoner after hesitating..... Making the lines blur on if and how much of Dimitri seems to still exist....

The first half of the Vampire Academy series is so strong and this second half does go a little downhill for me (I do love Last Sacrifice though).
There are certain scenes in this book that I love and I understand that this one is needed because we are introduced to many new characters but it felt a little slow for me.
From now on it’ll be spoilers -
I love that Rose got to spend time with Dimitri’s family and got to learn about his childhood. It’s some of the sweetest scenes in the entire series and I always tear up a little when she explains what happened to Dimitri
When Dimitri is holding Rose captive, it shows that Strigoi do carry over some feelings from their life from beforehand. Reading it as an adult I can completely understand why when Dimitri is turned back, he is so standoffish and guilty for what he did. It was such an uncomfortable situation and while I don’t blame Dimitri as he wasn’t himself - Rose was still left with trauma from the experience.
And then the characters you meet. We have Abe who becomes a big factor in the story. And then Jill and Sydney which is introducing the characters for bloodlines which I also love

I had so much fun rereading this. So much happens in this book.
***October 13, 2016***
I found this novel intoxicating. I loved meeting all the new characters introduced in this installment. "Blood Promise" left me on the edge of my seat waiting to read the next one.

Me encanto!! No le puse 5 estrellas porque AMO a LISA y no tuve mi cuota suficiente de ella en este libro, el resto es perfecto!! Ame a Abe y a Jeanin jeje. Amo Rusia quiero ir!!
Plot : Dimitri has been changed into a Strigoi, and Rose goes to Russia to kill him.
Impressions : Rose is deeply conflicted and is isolated from her American friends. A shame she doesn't actually learn Russian. But I rolled my eyes at the plot twist at the end. The series should probably ended here.

This series is fantastic and while I enjoyed this book, it wasn't on the same level as the others I'd give this a 3.5 out of 5 stars.
The reason I didn't enjoy this was mainly because Rose was a sad sap and off on a bat shit crazy mission that didn't really start until half way through the book.
There are ALOT of flash back scenes that weren't in the other books but I didn't see the point in reading about them. Also all the re capping gets old quick. I get that this would have been useful for people that hadn't read the book one after the other but it really bugged me that I had to rad about crap we already knew. WE HAD MORE PRESSING MATTERS AT HAND RACHELLE GET TO THE FIGHTING PLEASE.
Rose:
Rose was so grief stricken, I felt for her I truly did but after a while I was just bored of it, I understand she was going through a lot but I just wanted her to be back to strong Rose again.
Lissa
Even though we weren't at school with her we could still see what she was doing thanks to Rose's bond. Lissa has made a new friend out of Avery and I hated it so much I felt like jealous Rose from book 2 and wanted Avery and her creepy brother out!
Christian
Ah poor Christian. Christian is such a great character I can't find one thing in him I dislike
Dimitri
Dimitri was just as terrifying as I imagined. Super strong, Fast, and evil as anything and really creepy.
Adrian is such a ball of crazy mixed in with great I love his personality and take on everything. He's a great friend underneath all of his vices and tough guy act and I really felt for him.
The ending of this book was completely crazy, but really by now how could I expect anything less of this series?

Spoiler
Avery was such an evil bitch but taking her down was one of my favourite scenes. Seeing all 4 spirit uses tap into each other and help strengthen each other was amazing and I didn't even feel bad when Avery's mind snapped on it's selfChristian
Ah poor Christian. Christian is such a great character I can't find one thing in him I dislike
Spoiler
Seeing Lissa cheat hurt and I new something was horribly wrong but I just wanted everyone to make up. Lissa's stubborn and even though she cares for Christian she doesn't have it in her to be the first to run backDimitri

On the book
I'm trying not to think about what happened in this book because I WILL start crying if I do. Let's just say that I am in no way capable of finishing this series. Ever. It is the worst. (Just kidding. Maybe.) I don't think it was as good as Shadow Kiss, because that one ripped my heart out in a worse way, but it was TERRIBLE. And SO GOOD. I'm rambling. Someone stop me please.
AMBER WHERE ARE YOU?
On the series (no spoilers!)
Vampire Academy is one of the series I never thought I would get into. While I have nothing against vampires, I haven’t read a series where I truly loved them, and therefore I didn’t think that Vampire Academy could convince me. Was I wrong? Very much so. I bought the first book with no intention of reading it soon, until Betty and Amber convinced me otherwise. And that’s when I became obsessed. I read the first one, fell in love with Rose, Dimitri, Lissa, Christian, bought the second one, fell in love with Adrian, bought the third one, got my heart broken etc. If you follow me on Twitter, you might know that this series ruined me – in the best way possible.
You might not be convinced you need to read this series just yet. However, let me tell you about different things that make Vampire Academy fabulous. First, let’s discuss why Vampire Academy is not your average vampire series. It’s really simple: when we think vampires, we think Twilight. Is this series like Twilight? Not even close. Mead’s vampire world doesn’t consist of sparkly vegetarian vampires who stare at sulky teenage girls in their sleep (no offense). The VA vampires are either badass half-vampires (dhampirs), good living vampires (Moroi) or evil dead vampires (Strigoi). And mixed with intriguing politics, haunting history and jaw-dropping mystery, this makes Vampire Academy far superior to Twilight. (This is my opinion. No offense to those who love Twilight. I did too.)
The main reason I love this series, and also the main reason you need to read this series, is Rose Hathaway. Why? Okay. Take out your dictionary. Look up the term “kick-ass heroine”. (This is my imagination, so this exists in your dictionary.) What do you see? Yep. That’s Rose Hathaway, right there. What I liked most about this book, and what Richelle Mead managed to portray really well with her writing, was a fierce, feisty and witty heroine, one that is truly unique. But while I often say Rose is flawless, she really isn’t: she can be very young in her behavior, and sometimes, she’s arrogant. But holy hell, do I love this girl. It’s so great to read about a strong, confident character that literally kicks ass for a change.
My other main reason – because I’m totally allowed to have two – is the romance, also known as the flawless combination that is Rose Hathaway and Dimitri Belikov. I don’t take the term “OTP” lightly. I don’t have many OTPs. In fact, there are only two that I really ship. One is Logan and Veronica from Veronica Mars. The other is Rose and Dimitri. Two main ships. Two couples that cause me heartache and heartbreak and make me start sobfests and make me send crazy texts to Amber and Kelly. I also don’t take the term “soulmates” lightly, because I honestly don’t believe in it, but Rose and Dimitri are nothing less than perfect for each other. I was going to write a professional and coherent paragraph about why their romance is the best ever in the entire world, but eff it. It just is.
Alongside our outstanding main character, Richelle Mead managed to bring to live a colorful and very well-written cast of side characters. Dimitri Belikov, of course, is (as described by Richelle) “a badass Russian warrior god” (and by Kelly) “a panty dropping Russian bastard”. He’s fierce. He’s loyal. He’s incredible. But there’s also Lissa (who I hated in Shadow Kiss, but liked overall), Adrian (the other main guy, and boy, is he a great one!), Christian (my favorite! Christian is snarky and sarcastic. Of course I love him), Eddie, Mia, Jill, Alberta, Mason, Abe, Sydney… I could write paragraphs on each of them, but I’m not going to, because let’s be honest: that would make this “review” too long.
Before I end this review and you get yourself to the nearest bookstore to purchase the first book, I’d like to remind you that this was not a review. I love this series with a passion, but I am not capable of truly reviewing it because I’m being harrassed by FEELS. Do I think this series is for everyone? No. Not everyone will like Rose, and not everyone will think the writing is that special or unique. I even realize that not everyone might ship Rose and Dimitri in the crazy way I do. But it’s okay. I just hope this little bit of writing inspired you to pick up this series, even if it’s just the first book. Give it a try.

Woah!
oh man! this series is getting better and better. And all those characters? they are also getting more and more amazing.
I don't know who is my biggest crush right now, is it Dimitri or Adrian! The "almost" love triangle between Adrian, Rose and Dimitri is pissing me off. I can't stand love triangles at all, specially when I prefer both of the heroes to end up with the same heroine.
Dimitri is obviously a perfect match for Rose. But Man!! Adrian is gorgeous..
whatever, some of the twists were a little bit predictable for me. but still worth reading..
