Ooooh, things are getting good. I really liked this one. Had trouble putting it down at one point. I was worried that she wasn't going to let Dimitri really become a villian, but she did and that made me happy. I wish she'd flesh out Adrien a little more. I'd like to see a little more romance between him and Rose.

Just put the next one on hold. Excited to see what happens next.

This felt like an interlude at a show, where you're waiting for the characters to come back on stage and resume their roles.

2024 review: 3 and a half stars* it’s a bit better than the other books i’ve read during this reread bc of the plot twist/ending (which is more satisfying) but i still think it’s aged poorly since i remember originally giving it 5 stars (i wish there was a way of seeing what you rated it the first time you read it bc currently it just erases your original rating

Regardless of Rose taking off on her vigilante quest to search for Dimitri, Mead ensures the readers still get to catch up with Lissa through the bond. In doing so, we are able to follow a separate storyline, and as per usual with Mead, it's an exciting one. Introducing Avery into the storyline, even if its for one book, still provided entertainment. It also managed to help fill the book out, in order for the readers to gain insight to Lissa's feelings toward Rose's abrupt departure.

We also get a better understanding of Jill, and meet a new face Sydney the Alchemist... who becomes a regular face in the remaining novels, and also is the female protagonist in the Bloodline series.

Secrets and mysteries are revealed, and Mead doesn't fail to leave us wanting more when this novel finishes. However more secrets, more mysteries and more adventure lie ahead of the usual suspects, leaving her readers in suspense.

For me this is a timeless book and I can see myself reading this in years to come!

Solid, but boring at the beginning. More thoughts to come.

So we all know how the third book left us off at Rose leaving St. Vladimir's and boy does she have the time of her life. Rose is now in Russia and still looking for Dimitri. Prowling the night looking for him but instead finding some very odd friends in the most highest of places. And a "friend" that secretly wants to do what's right for her. But what happens when she finds Dimitri? Can she really kill the only man that she has ever loved and felt the same in return?
