I'm not really an expert in poetry. I can't really tell you, from a linguistic point of view how good this book was. I can only tell you how it made me feel.

Because of how my mum raised me, and because of her own ideas, I've always considered myself a spiritual person. I'm not really religious, but I deeply believe there are several connections in this world. Between people, elements, stars, cardinal points..my mum calls them pararells, and says that if you can build a balance with them, they will listen to you.

This book is everything I want to show people when they ask me:"what does that mean?"
I've always been fond of elements, of how we were crafted from the same elements of the stars, the flames, the storm..and that's the reason I'm glad I found this book.
Yes, maybe some parts were clichès, but the other ones made up for them well enough.

It's empowering, sad, awakening and yes, heartbreaking as well. If you want to reach out to the world around you, to feel its very roots, check this out.

3/5 stars:

I had read some of these poems online and I thought I would give this collection a try to finally read it in its entirety. It was mostly okay but I have the same problem with it as I do with all books that have poetry like this: it mostly says nothing to me.

There were some poems that I found beautiful and I want to write down because they did make me relate to them but in general everything feels... general and bland. I think I have to stop trying to love this more "modern" poetry books and focus on the poetry I know I love.

I love this so much *sniffs while shedding tears*. Love how there are sections about certain elements and the poems themselves are truly chef's kiss. The best out of all the poetry collections I have already read.

i loved all the words, from the beginning to end, you should definitely give it a go!! here are two of my many favourite poems:

"if every single of
your beautiful, terrible emotions
could be translated into words,
even the biggest library on earth
would not be able to handle
the amount of books you could write"

"the earth grew you
limb by limb
within her womb

you owe it to her
not to turn her body
into a tomb"

This is one of the best, if not the best poetry collection I have read. It is well written and thought provoking. I love the messages and the imagery that is used throughout.

3.5/5. think that there were some really good nuggets in this one, but overall it felt a bit repetitive.

Some favorite lines:

No one tells you
That hope can sometimes be a dead thing
Just like no one ever tells you
That you are wishing upon dead stars.

Mother Earth
The earth grew you
Limb by limb
Within her womb
You owe it to her
Not to turn her body
Into a tomb

Rogue Planet was my favorite poem of the lot

It is eerily terrifying that there is no sound when a heart breaks. Car accidents end with a bang, falling ends with a thud, even writing makes the scratching sound of pencil against paper. But the sound of a heart breaking is completely silent. Almost as though no one, not even the universe itself could create a sound for such devastation.
Almost as though silence is the only way the universe could pay its respect to the sound of a heart falling apart.

You carry both lightning and thunder
in that space between your bones and soul.

I hope you fall in love with someone well versed in the language
of forests and monsoon.
I hope you fall in love with someone who loves you like the wolf
loves the moon.

ENJOYED THIS ONE IMMENSELY <3
