Killian, I mean Liam - be still my heart.
Who knew Killian could be such a sweetheart? He broke my heart, he was full of swagger. Or at least, that is what he showed people. But as we get to know him, we get to know him more and he is in fact an amazing hero. I didn't like the heroine that much at the beginning of the book, but slowly started to see all the pain she hide and love her. I can't stop! I need to continue reading all the connected series by this author!

Juliet is in the stealing business. She steals from the rich and crooked to give to the needy. When she steals a truck of diapers from Killian, he's curious to know more about her.
This dark, mafia, alpha male, Romeo and Juliet-type romance is book 2 in the Beautifully Cruel duet, a prequel to the Queens and Monsters series. I liked it a bit better than the first one, Juliet and Killian were much better than Kiam and Tru, with better banter and tension.
"Because you inexplicably like me. -It's not an explicable. I like you the way Newton liked gravity. -I don't know what you mean. -Once he found it, everything else in the world makes sense."

Oh, J.T. Geissinger, you got me again. I didn’t think I could love anyone more than Liam Black’s broodiness in Beautifully Cruel. Tru and Liam were so magical in their travails towards love. But you did it. You made me love his brother even more. Unlike Beautifully Cruel, Killian Black in Cruel Paradise is equal parts humor and swoon. His tenacity and persistence in pursuing Juliet and loving her is both surprising and not. You wrote such beautiful words for him as he woos her. Yet, you made me laugh and cry too. Similarly, Juliet is strength personified. Her ability to overcome is key and important to this story, and you made me LOVE their journey.
I think most insightful to this story is the idea of the past. While Juliet and Killian’s story is titillating and spell-binding, it’s really the idea that our past doesn’t define us. It helps mold us, but our present and future allow us the choice to live in the shadow of our past or choose our own definition for our future. That message is important because we could all feel trapped in our DNA, and sometimes that occurs, specifically with health issues. But our parents’ choices don’t have to be perpetuated in our own. Instead, we are wholly our own beings, and this book illustrates that beautifully.
Over and over again, J.T. Geissinger reminds me why I’ve fallen fast for her romances. There is a lilt, a wisdom, a flow, and a power in her storytelling. Cruel Paradise is a perfect exemplification of Geissinger’s craftsmanship. If you have yet to read Beautifully Cruel, grab it now and one-click it’s partner Cruel Paradise. There are hours of suspenseful, insightful, and romantic prose in Geissinger’s pages, and you will adore Liam and Tru and Killian and Juliet immensely.

I really enjoyed this series! Killian is the definition of an alpha male. He is intense and dangerous, but he's also romantic and has a soft side. He is completely taken with Juliet. He struggled to understand exactly what he was feeling and the intensity of his feelings.
Juliet struggles with her attraction to Killian. She is determined she won't be like her mother and fall for the bad guy. She made me laugh a lot with her smart, sarcastic comments with both her friends and Killian.
I also liked that we got to see more of Liam and Tru.

What a great second book in this series! This book had the more I was craving from Beautifully Cruel. There was more backstory, more drama, the female lead had more depth. And as if it was easy to outdo Liam, JT Geissenger brought us Killian - a man who croons Shakespeare and pushes for love like he can't live without. Loved!
