I think I liked this book a bit more than the first. It's probably because I already knew Killian as a character from Queens & Monsters and Dangerous Beauty. I did not like him in those books, but this book is his redemption.
Killian is now the head of the Irish mob, but he is posing at Liam.
He meets Juliet while she is stealing from one of his warehouses. A warehouse of diapers that she then donates. Juliet and her friends are the children of some very bad men and are trying to make up for their parent's wrongs. Her father happens to be the Black's largest rival.
Killian falls fast and hard for the thief with a heart of gold that one. He spends most of the book attempting to get Juliet to let him in, trust him, and love him.
He even seeks relationship advice from Liam, which is hysterical.
Troy Duran and Maryne Young, do a fantastic job with the narration of this book!

I love my men dark and brooking, and Killian is exactly that. The 'will they, won't they' lasted a little long for me. Also, I have read several books with the nickname 'little thief' which kind of broke the immersion for me. However, I loved this book. Juliet is sassy and puts this big, bad, 'mafia' man right in his place.
killian appeared several times in the queens & monsters series without much explanation, so i thought it might be helpful to read his book. i’m not sure if there are books about anyone once they’ve joined his little super secret organization, but it’d probably be interesting. these two books give more context to diego running the irish mafia (until declan takes over). there are still holes in the story, but overall both series are solid additions to the mafia genre. the women aren’t meek, they’re mouthy. the men are growly and dominant, but not exceptionally toxic. the violence is subdued, and much more morally gray than black.
Killian black found out Juliet broke into his warehouse to steel some baby diapers and give them back to the community so he take her at first but then he let her go till he could called her again but then he found out that Juliet is not her real name but a fake one. She is the daughter of a mafia family and also his enemy what is going to happen next. I just got with this sorry and let me tell you it did not leave anything out like the spicy scene, the kidnapping. I’m gonna say it now, and probably repeatedly throughout this review, but Killian Black is all that is good and right with this world. All that is beautiful and sexy, swoony and wonderful. Okay, my point being, I’d marry him and have his babies tomorrow. If I fell for him in the last book, I was completely and irrevocably slayed by him in this one. And then JT went an added a tidbit that sealed tighter the already sealed deal for me. Killian Black is sex on a stick, swoon on two legs, impeccably dirty talking Romeo in a black Armani suit. But like, way less on the depressing and way more on the witty.
Well I should probably talk about the book a little too. Juliet (the Shakespeare is strong in this one), apart from being a very lucky girl, is your typical sassy, witty JT heroine, with a dark past, and a quirky...umm hobby. Her girl gang of vigilantes is funny and smart and the kind of sisterhood I love to read in books. I hope we get books for both Max and Fin.
The book was fast paced and sexy and appropriately filthy, and again, Killian was all my fantasies given life. A Moment of appreciative silence for the Irish speaking, dictionary spewing gangster. Moving on, I can’t go without mentioning one of my favorite things and a defining characteristic of the author’s books, the sparkling banter between characters, whether it be Killian and Declan, or Juliet and the girls, it’s snappy, it’s cutting and sarcastic, and it gives me life. This was also my second, loosely Romeo and Juliet retelling in a row, both completely different from each other but equally compelling.

After Beautifully Cruel (the first book in this series) about Liam and Truvy, I was so excited to read Liam's brother Killian's story!
From the beginning, I loved the female main character, Juliet. She's smart and strong, and her relationship with her friends is just so sweet. The majority of the story and Killian and Juliet's relationship is focused on how to build trust, something that both characters really struggle with. I really enjoyed their banter (honestly J.T. Geissinger's books always have great banter!) throughout the entire book.
But my favorite part of the entire book was where Liam and Killian's worlds finally come back together, and Juliet gets to meet Truvy! I highly recommend this book and the entire series!
