Adventure, romance, humor—this book has it all! I have loved the Scarlet Pimpernel sense high school when I first saw the Broadway show, and this was my second time reading the book. Usually I have a horrible memory for books and can be completely surprised by major things on a second reading, but I had some very distinct memories of major plot points. (Ok, just checked my reading list and this was actually my third time, so that was probably why I remembered parts of it so well…) I will say that I wish I had had the opportunity to read this book before I knew anything about the Scarlet Pimpernel because his identity is a mystery for the first half of the book, and I would have loved to experience that first moment of discovery. But alas, that wasn’t to be, and it’s still an amazing read! Highly recommended if you haven’t already read it (or even if you have)!

A little slow to begin with, but after that the plot gets going and it is a real page turner!

A great adventure story set in a tumultuous time in history, where the reader has to choose to side with the French or the rich (a really tough decision for an Englishman!)

I admit it was a little hard to get into at first but when I did it was truly a delight.
