GONE is a thriller that has stuck with me since I first read it. I’m writing my review after my second read, and stayed up til 3 finishing it.
Readers can expect a sense of “what could possibly happen next?” with each twist and turn of this plot. The content is dark and most certainly triggering to anyone sensitive to subject matter pertaining to CSEM / CSA but it is handled with consideration. Kick’s PTSD is very well represented.
Cain has skillfully created a character and story with tremendous trauma, using strong imagery in her description of cruel violence to bolster the horrifying implications of the CSA that occurred.
I’m curious to read more stories for Kick Lannigan.
For those concerned:The dog does die, and it’s awful.
