This is a brief review(I may add more details and thoughts about this book in the future).

First of all, this story has the right amount of laugh, angst (crying), political plot and “war” that was never heavy or exaggerated!

I loved the different characterizations of the main and supporting characters (Xiao Cheng included, even though I still think Shen Huaishi, who is a character I absolutely loved and I would give my life for, was too gentle and soft-hearted with him, despite everything he did) and the dynamics! Especially I adored the main couple (both the characterization of the two and the dynamic between them), so much so they became one of my favourite couples, a perfect match that made me laugh, cry and despair and also warmed my heart!!++they were so cute both in the Dayu and in modern times setting T-T.

I decided to read this novel because the transmigration trope regards a point of view different from that of MC. And now i would like to read this trope from such povs in all of the other novels about transmigration!
That was so refreshing and intriguing(fortunately before reading the novel I didn’t read all the plot in NU or goodreads, so I didn’t know what would happen).

Therefore, not my favourite novel but I enjoyed it very much, everyone who likes historical and transmigration novels should read it!
