This is the first danmei I've actually liked the background characters in. The author put great care into writing all of the characters, even the evil ones (even though Lin Qingyu doesn't hardly pay them any mind). I loved the main couple and the slow burn felt completely normal. The dialogue was amazing, it flowed so naturally.
I laughed at the funny moments, I mourned each death of our beloved ml. 
Will definitely read again, I love the salted fish.

What a gem 💜 I might be alone here but this feels like a very toned down, small scale version of QJJ, with more humor, a lot less characters, much smaller geography, and more light-hearted (but with substance!) and sweet. Lots of scheming and the couple is kind of similar. Watching Lin Qingyu fall in love little by little was so sweet. 

MC: Smart, aloof, cold, cunning, loyal, manipulative, holds grudges 
ML: Charismatic, clever, loyal, kind, “lazy” in everything but his pursuing of MC, shameless yet embarrassed, green flag when it comes to consent ✅

** Despite all the political scheming with the court, their relationship is nothing but complete honesty and bluntness with the ML confessing even when he is so embarrassed 🤣
