In the dark, it was as if... as if there were these pair of hands pulling him from destiny's outcome. Lin Qingyu looked up at the sky towards the northwest. He said softly, "Is it you?"
Even if they were separated from each other, unable to see one another, that person was still protecting him in his own way.
For the first time in his new lease on life, Lin Qingyu suddenly lost strength and with the palace wall against his back, slowly crouched to the ground. "When are you coming back..."
the more transmigration stories i read, the more i fall in love with this genre because it hits hard every single time :’)
lin qingyu, originally a cannon-fodder character intended to only steer the original main couple’s story, turning into a multifaceted character in his own right. his cruelty shines in numerous and creative ways, and a warmth emanates with every moment he spends with jiang xing—a reader who felt so wronged about lin qingyu’s original fate.
it felt really surreal to read a transmigration story where the main couple originally resided as the side characters—with some semblance of an interesting backstory, but little room for development. to see them manipulate their way to be at the center of the story was absolutely incredible. there were so many moments i copied and pasted to my notes folder because i so desperately didn’t want to forget. there were moments of introspection and sheer warmth, then ridiculousness and laughter, then vicious torment and action. it was such an emotional rollercoaster, and i ate up every moment of it. most of the characters i met and the storylines they weaved in this new version of the story really knocked me over. i think the most tragic part had to be xi rong & xiao jie’s fate….
lin qingyu is a character for the ages, and im so happy he got the peaceful ending jiang xing fought like hell to prove he deserved. i loved his fascination with poisons very much, and how deep & complex it already seemed to make him when he’s also an aspiring doctor who wishes to heal people. there’s a fixed mask on him that makes a cold beauty to others, and throughoht this story, the author doesn’t care one bit in hiding that mask or softening him up so you can try to ease past it.
he’s a really dark and vicious person, but what jiang xing saw in him and what soon another character would also see—shen huashi, i also love you and how better your new fate turned out (him & lin qingyu becoming good friends is so gratifying)—is that he’s someone who will fight for the people he cares about, and won’t settle for any disrespect.
if his career motivation is to save lives, then he also takes great pains to show his enemies how fragile that life can be if they cross a line. i love him to death, and his romance with jiang xing was so epic. i read the modern extras and it made me so happy to read after all they’ve been through. so much fluff and love after a series of trials & tribulations; it was amazing :’)
i can’t wait to return back to it someday.

I'm done, I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of this story, from the main to extra chapters to a point I'm not sure if I like the ancient one or their time in modern life
I still wanna know about the crown prince tho hahaha, but I guess huaisi isn't in love with him that much, he seems to be more happy with newly founded friendship with our main couple more
He goes from npc to beloved side character ahh and qingyu my baobei, he is just so cute, he really went from cold detached personality to a cute and clingy wife, and he's so smart, and beautiful and perfect and that's truly match with jiang xing, I said it before and I'll say it again, jiang is simply best gong so far for me, he tick every box of best quality gong ever
The switch between ancient and modern theme also goes align, they fit in anything setting, if they were to stuck in ABO universe, no doubt it will also be fit them
Wish I can erase to re-experience it, but maybe rereading isn't bad either tho I'm not fan of rereading gang

I love the main couple so much omg. Wish I could read it again for the first time. They are so mature and green flags and genuinely in love with each other ughhhh I love them both sm.
I'm speechless, this was a masterpiece! I loved it! I cried, I laughed and I'm not going to move on anytime soon...
Everything worked great. The characters were complex and portrayed their feelings well, and the plot was intricate with lots of schemes and court politics.
The couple was the best part, though. They were so different but somehow they found a place in each other's life. Oh, and they made for a terrific power couple. Definitely one of my favorite reads this year!

One of the most wholesome danmei I’ve ever read. The main couple took my heart!
I was afraid it was going to be too sad but there was a perfect balance of funny and angsty moments. The emotional scenes made me cry because I got so attached to the characters.
However, there were some parts of the plot that were too rushed just so the author could write the next scene. Also, I feel like it was not necessary for the novel to be this long as some parts really dragged on when they might have not even been needed to the plot development. This is the only reason I’m giving 4 stars.
