Speeding bullets aren’t nearly as dangerous as human emotion.

Room For One More 5/5: Heel heftig, oh my. I hate it here.

The New Kid 5/5: I’m not even gonna lie, ik ben ZO confused na dit verhaal, maar het was zo goed!!!!

It was great to have some stories with adult main characters for a change! While my favourite of all Fazbear Frights stories still remains "Lonely Freddy" from the previous volume, I enjoyed this one immensely. All installments had good pacing and excellently written endings for a short horror story, my jaw literally dropped at the end of "1:35 AM" and "The New Kid"'s final paragraphs had led me to frantically discussing theories with my friend for a long time. I have already pre-ordered books 4 and 5 of Fazbear Frights as I'm waiting for more of these.

4 out of 5 stars

As I reached the end of this book, I audibly said "damn".

This volume of the series was a hell of a lot darker than it's predecessors. This no longer felt like Goosebumps, this felt more adult, more "Tales from the Crypt".

All three stories, plus the little epilogue at the end, stood out strong amongst all the other stories. I was genuinely unnerved by each one, especially the last one because holy shit.

Say what you will about the FNAF series, but Scott Cawthon is a fantastic storyteller and when his has the help of trained writers to help put together the story in cohesive ways (not just a well-implied moment in a video game) the horrific lore of the series is just awesome.

I'm really enjoying the Stitchwraith investigation stories at the very end of each book. It's nice to have an episodic narrative with heavy mystery after each random short story set.

As for this book, I thought 2 out of the 3 were quite good. Although the first story 1:35AM DRAGGED and was more of a psychosocial thriller than a Five Nights at Freddy's tale, but after finishing the Stitchwraith origin at the end of this anthology I understand and appreciate it a bit more knowing the theme of trauma and negative emotions is now a somewhat physical plot device: Delilah suffered a traumatic past while in foster care, so she, herself, was haunted. Very sad. But extremely slow. Normally I'm okay with a slow burn, but the while story was just the girl's descent into madness.

Room for One More made me want to throw up as the tragic end to that character is burned into my brain for life. And The New Kid will probably give me nightmares. It was very satisfying to see the sick bastard William Afton die an extremely painful death in both the games and in The Silver Eyes book, but it's a whole 'nother terrifying shock and nightmare when a child suffers the same fate. No child should EVER have to go through that no matter what they've done.

Let's keep the Frights coming.

Spooky!

Some very good pieces in this, but I don't think quite my favorites of the Fazbear Frights series as a whole.

Synopsis: From twisted toys to gut-wrenching games, this collection of terrifying tales is unsettling enough to mess with even the most hardened Five Nights at Freddy's fans. In this volume, horror master Scott Cawthon spins three sinister novella-length stories from different corners of FNAF's canon. Each story comes complete with accompanying artwork from a fan-favorite game artist to bring the horror to life in a whole new way.

Readers beware: In this startling world, desperate wishes have an unexpected cost, beautiful trinkets reveal appalling powers, and harmless pranks can go awry in ghastly ways.

Review: I am in love with these books! I love the premise and the stories. They’re well crafted and written. The stories are also very spooky and I’ve been having so many nightmares. Definitely recommend for the spooky season. The main thing to take away from this book is that FNAF effects all ages, not just kids, and that makes the series a bit scarier.

My own issue with this book is that the main characters were not kids and it was a bit of a weird shake up from the MO of the model of these books. The second story also had a weird POV switch and it threw me off.

Verdict: Recommend these still!

My favorite one so far!! I loved the first two stories, but the third one was only okay. I really didn't care about the characters in the last story and it was, unfortunately, the most character focused of the three stories. The first story was definitely my favorite and I loved the inclusion of Ballora and her little marionettes in the second story!

Well… that escalated quickly, didn’t it?! The FNAF books have always been advertised as ‘not for younger readers’ and honestly…who are they kidding? They weren’t particularly unnerving – no more than the Goosebumps ones were. But 1:35am ramps that up and honestly, some of the actual horror of the stories were intense and definitely had my eyes going wide in a ‘WTF’ way! But that’s a GREAT thing!

So 1:35am is the third instalment of the Fazbear Frights collection of short stories – each book has three short stories and I’ve enjoyed the past instalments but this one kicked it up a notch!
The first story was easily the scariest in terms of actual horror. It’s a slow burn and honestly it’s just so fucking tragic!

But the best bit about this collection – OMG the call backs to the original games! I love the interwoven webs between these stories, the original books, the games, omg trying to figure it all out is sweet agony!

But being able to recognise the throw backs or links was amazing throughout these stories – hence the 5 stars!

People who aren’t previous fans of the franchise can still enjoy these stories, but fans will absolutely get the most out of these!
