I kept reading waiting for the actual plot… could have been written in half the page count if eliminated all the extra attraction details, we get it, he’s good looking. Love story part was flat for me, see other notes. Can see why it’s banned. Will not bother with sequels or movie. Highly disappointed. I’m usually a big fan of vampire / human love stories.

I don’t understand why Edward didn’t bite her in the end. Clearly she is willing and ready to give up legit everything so like… hurry up?

I don’t get the hype behind Jacob, lads just a hinted at wolf who isn’t even a contender for Bella’s heart.

<Also what happened to her school friends? They all just kinda die? Like they were non-existent in the ending there>

This is maybe one of the worst books I've ever read. I am legitimately unsure why my eleven-year-old self enjoyed them as much as she did. Probably for the reasons I gave it two and a half stars, which is pure entertainment value and being unintentionally hilarious at times. But seriously, I'm not sure how this book was even published. The writing is terrible, the characters are all incredibly annoying (all for completely different reasons), and Edward and Bella's relationship, which is held up as being romantic and perfect and star-crossed, is actually very toxic and abusive (one of their first ever conversations is just Edward gaslighting the hell out of Bella and it made me quite uncomfortable). This book (and the series) makes an excellent hate-read, and I'm definitely going to be finishing out the series at some point soon. The only people I think I'd seriously recommend this book to are eleven-year-old girls or someone who I really want to confuse. However, I'd recommend it to anybody else looking for something comically bad and cringey to read.

Reading Twilight for the first time is a bit of a beast, as it carries a lot of cultural baggage on its shoulders. When I started, it took some time to try and forget about it, because underneath the major cultural phenomenon of Twilight is just a normal YA romance. It's not something of major literary merit, it's also not garbage.

I had a good time reading the book, picturing how I would adapt it.

Kinda slow to start but really picked up speed in the end. Cute romance and unpredictable. Bella is super funny and sarcastic which brightens the mood. I feel like it was kinda one note though, it needed something else to happen.

Well... It IS the first Twilight book... It is a good book. Do I really need to explain?
I always love the beginning with the mysterious Edward and Bella, how they get to know each other, how Edward is difficult to follow... However, I can't stop cringing over some facts with Bella being way too much into this 17 years old teen. It kinda weird.
The end is also really nice even if I cannot really understand why but, oh well, it was necessary. Between the beginning and the end, it kinda got long but it's okay.
It is the first twilight book.

Twilight is one of my favourite book and movie series, however the book was so much better. It wasn’t as cringey and I felt like we got so much more Bella and Edward content in the book. Their romance beautiful and I loved how they cared for each other equally. Edward was very protective over Bella which was adorable too, their romance had so much more depth in the book! I felt we also got more time with other characters and got to know them very well too which I liked. I loved the book!
