Very nostalgic. Really not nearly as bad as people claim. The writing was perfect when describing the atmosphere, not as great during conversation but it wasn't too distracting. There is some abuse disguised as love which isn't great but not as bad as I remembered.

I found that this book was really good it’s even one of my favourite books but I found that the chapters were very long and it was kinda hard to read.

Rereading this a decade later and in a language I’m not 100% comfortable reading has helped me focus on the plot instead of the vibes, and wow I understand why so many people were up in arms. It’s a fun, ridiculous dark romance, but it’s marketed as young adult, and it’s concerning to think about all the young girls who were exposed to such poor communication at a formative age and have it painted as a great love story. Overall, it’s not a compelling book to me now, though I still had fun at times.

I also watched the movie today, and it was fascinating to see how they moved things around to make it a more evenly paced film.

This book is a guilty pleasure for sure. I was nervous going in because of the stigma/talk this book gets, but I was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would. Despite all the small things and my still-internal cringe for enjoying it, I really liked this book. Also, I'm Team Edward lmao.
