I enjoyed reading the history of specific forensic techniques. I have encountered each of them in various other stories, but the background and incidents listed are good for detailing their importance and the steps taken as the science progressed. I can't help but wonder what the next surprising science will present in forensics.
I almost gave up on this book on several occasions because it was just so monotone and cold. Crammed with different cases rather than explaining the actual forensics behind solving them. Another thing that bothered me was the portrayal of several victims - like they we're just pawns in the authors game.
He made (child-)victims of sexual assault pointing out their perpetrator sound like a brief anecdote in a silly tv-sketch. Do not recommend.

This book was very informative but I had to take breaks from reading because it made SO ANGRY.
SO MANY WOMEN GET KILLED, GUYS! So many that I swear in 3 outta every 4 cases in this book is a new forensic technology first used in a murder case where a woman got murdered by some dude.
I WAS SO ANGRY. STOP KILLING WOMEN.
Also yes, the new forensic techniques and the history of the first major case when a new technique was first use to solve the case is very interesting, BUT HOLD SHIT SO MANY WOMEN ANS CHILDREN ARE MURDERED! 8 YEAR OLDS DUDE.
