This is so much better than the first volume in that the story feels far more natural, as opposed to the issue-by-issue adventure that we saw in the last one. This has a more cohesive story and more connecting dots. We also get such added depth to all of our Black Squardron members. It's interesting going into a story where you know the overall endpoint, finding Lor San Tekka, but Soule is having fun with it and that's what I wanted. And as always, Noto's art is some of my absolute favorite.

Solid follow-up with stellar art from Phil Noto (as always). Lots of fun droid stuff in here!

I really disliked the first volume of Poe Dameron, so my expectations were low for volume two. Surprisingly, this book was quite an improvement over the first. It's still all a bit inconsequential, but the story stays focused on a limited scope of action-scene narrative, and it's pretty good for a Star Wars graphic novel. I was glad that there was no giant monster egg worship, or any of the un-Star Wars-y ancient alien tech that's shown up in Doctor Aphra recently. I was disappointed to see a bizarre call-back to a character from Chuck Wendig's dreadful Aftermath novels.

I don't know what happened. I really enjoyed the first volume of Charles Soule's series set right after The Empire Strikes Back. But maybe I'm just not in the mood for this right now, because I found volume 2 to be contrived and ineffective. Someone died during that mission to retrieve an old droid from a museum, and no one really seems to care? (Also, as much as I dislike Doctor Aphra, why have a plot about stealing an artifact from a museum and not have it involve her? Perfect opportunity to feature her in a bit part here.) The foil Soule created for Leia is generic, and her suggestion that she had destroyed Leia's hope—by...failing to kill her when she had the chance...?—has no payoff; Leia hasn't changed.

Overall, just a bunch of artificial peril and bland characters and situations.

Enjoyable enough but only 3 stars because the characterization of C-3PO goes a bit against his normal annoying self. He acts more like R2-D2 which wouldn't be a problem if it was more in line with his character across 7 movies and countless books and comics.

I liked the first volume better. It seems to gloss over the fact that there was a traitor in Poe's group of friends but once you find out his 'reason' it's like oh we're worried about him now. I'll still read this because it gives Poe more depth that the movie was lacking. Oddly he gets the most attention in the literature which I'm okay with.

This was such an improvement to the first volume! I was a little confused by the time jumps in the beginning, but honestly it wasn’t a huge issue. Good story, great art, fun characters. It really felt like the Poe I love. Super excited to pick up vol 3!
