This series has me by the throat! I think about it when I'm not reading it. ALL. THE. TIME. Ari and Eva continue their journey beyond the grip of the Commonwealth Community that they grew up in. I'm continually fascinated by this futuristic world where many things have changed, but some things stay the same. Such as the politics and the dynamics between peoples has stayed much the same, while the methods of communication and the weapons of war have changed.

In this futuristic version of the United States, people only travel on foot or by horse, but many of the sciences have stayed advanced. Oil and coal production seem to have stopped entirely, but farming and medicinal sciences seem to still be "up-to-date." I love the concept of this world!

I will say the first book in this series had minimal magic while the second book has pulled in may more elements of magic. As this series progresses, I can only image that the world will get bigger and more complex. I'm so excited to keep reading!

I have to say, I may have guessed at a few twists here and there. However, the story itself was still thrilling and fun and I find myself wanting more. Eva is a badass and who doesn't want someone like Ari Westergaard to love them? They are the perfect team.

This is the second book in the "Seven Sins" series and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

We get to see more of Ari and Eva in this book. And we especially get more of Eva as she discovers more of herself. Both Ari and Eva are navigating what life means outside of the Commonwealth and where they fit into that and the Brotherhood.

I love how they continue to battle the way they were raised. The way they were made to make things of 'sinning', such as caring for one another, was bad but they can easily see that is wrong. They see others care for one another, and continue to fall fastly for one another.

Some favorite quotes:
-Eva: "I am a flame and a shadow, I tell my reflection sternly. Fear is the enemy. Fear is the force that breaks the strongest of men. But it will not break me".

Potential SPOILER Ari: "'I would marry you,' I say, 'if such a path lay open to me. I would bring you wine and a poet's words, pile a bed high with the petals of a thousand flowers, for the pleasure of crushing them again our weight. I'd stand in front of whoever mattered and vow to honor you forever, to protect you with my body and worship you with the same..."

I can't wait to finish this amazing trilogy!

This installment continues Eva and Ari's story as it delves deeper into their journey amidst a world teetering on the brink of war. As rogue soldiers fleeing the oppressive grasp of their religious society, Eva and Ari must confront their unknown pasts and the uncertainties of their future.

This expands upon the world-building introduced in the first installment. The stakes are higher than ever as Eva grapples with her newfound powers and has to come to term with what the rebellion envisions for her - while they decline to consider her own choice in the matter.

The central focus on Eva and Ari's relationship remains a driving force but I did not find the constantly infused conflict between them nearly as interesting. The bond between them is their strength and they are not often on the same page here. I found the abundance of dramatic obstacles designed to keep the couple apart somewhat excessive, detracting from the overall pacing of the story.

Despite these minor drawbacks, "Siege of the Seven Sins" delivers a compelling story about love, choice, sacrifice, and redemption against the backdrop of a dystopian world ravaged by war and oppression.

I received an advance review copy for free from booksirens and the author, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Thank you!

“The darkness is burning. And soon, we will be too.”
“There is nothing you could tell me that would make me think less of you. Nothing that would make me want you less.”
“Apprentice, come to me.”

The Siege of the Seven Sins is the second full-length book in The Seven Sins series. Like the first book, this one is also told from two points of view: Eva's and Ari's.

Once again, the writing is superb. The storyline remains captivating, filled with twists and turns. While perhaps not as action-packed as the first book, this one still delivers excitement from start to finish.

The characters are once again well-developed and intriguing. There is some miscommunication between the main characters, which isn't my favorite trope, but it didn't detract significantly from my enjoyment of the book.

I particularly enjoyed witnessing Eva's growth in understanding her abilities and what she is capable of doing. The banter and chemistry between the main characters were well written.

I won't delve into the plot details to avoid spoilers for those who haven't read both the first book in the series and this one.

I'm eagerly looking forward to reading the next book.

I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review. Receiving ARC didn’t affect my opinion of the book.

I began reading this book right after I was done with the first, because I just couldn’t wait to read more.
And I was not disappointed, because this book is so good.
I love the whole shapeshifter thing even though I really frustrated sometimes.
Because they just want to protect each other but they end up hurting each other instead, it is so irritating, but it also made me want to read more of the series, I am so happy that there is a whole book more.
This is for sure a 5 stars book, it has everything I like in science fiction/fantasy romance books.

Thanks to NetGalley and Blue Crow Publishing for a free eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Siege of the Seven Sins, book 2 in The Seven Sins trilogy continues right where we left off from the first book. Eva and Ari have escaped from the Commonwealth and are now with the Brotherhood. I don’t want to say too much because most of this is a spoiler for Book 1, but this book explores who Eva and Ari are and what they could potentially become.

I loved the continued banter in this book between our two main characters and how their relationship waxes and wanes. More of the side characters from book 1 get a more fleshed out story and we learn how the Commonwealth was formed and the lengths the Executor will go to to get Eva back.

I didn’t think it possible to like this book more than the first but it exceeded my expectations and I was so glad to be able to go straight into Siege after finishing Storm. How can I possibly wait for the third book?

“If I break my own heart, then it’s my own to tend, as well.”

“Siege of the Seven Sins,” by Emily Colin

Eva and Ari left the commonwealth where everything about their lives was dictated by a corrupt government. Eva was born and raised to be a weapon the commonwealth needs. Ari and Eva want to be together, but Eva is struggling to control her new powers, especially around Ari.

It’s been a while since I’ve found a good dystopian series but this one delivers. I liked this one a little better than the first in the series. The characters are interesting, and Eva and Ari’s relationship is still as conflicted as it was in book 1 just for different reasons. I really cannot wait for book 3 in the series, I’m fully invested. 4 out of 5 stars.
