I did like George.

So I would give this more stars just for the entertainment value, but I can't. This book was the most meandering, impossible, inexplicable book I have ever read.

Stuart manages to not only defy DNA and natural law, he somehow doesn't surprise any of the humans he comes in contact with, makes an enemy of a cat (not so surprising), and pays for everything with tin foil coins made by his father which no one seems to be concerned about.

He pretends to be a substitute teacher and teaches the kids in the class that reading, writing, and 'rithmatic is useless once you've learned it.

I loved Charlotte's Web (the only time I've ever cried over a spider dying) and I liked Trumpet of the Swan.

I laughed at this one, but it was a laugh of the credulous, rather than the pleasantly entertained.

We read it as a family in about five hours and that will probably be the last time we ever read this book.

For a classic, this was a really weird book.

I really enjoyed repeatedly reading this when I was little.

First time reading a chapter book aloud to Harvey. We finished it in two days (and need to pace ourselves next time). He loved it, and I loved reading to him. It’s a different book than I remember.
