Revisiting another childhood favorite in audiobook format and it was delightful! Listening to audio was the perfect company on a Sunday afternoon puttering around the house doing chores and listening to Stuart go on his adventures.

Exciting and fun language and story, but generally a bit disjointed. The book reads more like a variety of short stories than a storyline, which is confusing for children. White is excellent at painting pictures of the world around Stuart, and the mix of city and country makes this an enjoyable read.

"Stuart Little is no ordinary mouse. Born to a family of humans, he lives in New York City with his parents, his older brother George, and Snowbell the cat. Though he's shy and thoughtful, he's also a true lover of adventure.

Stuart's greatest adventure comes when his best friend, a beautiful little bird named Margalo, disappears from her nest. Determined to track her down, Stuart ventures away from home for the very first time in his life. He finds adventure aplenty. But will he find his friend?" (From Amazon)

A great adventure novel for young readers and adults who read it to them.

I'm at a loss as to why this book is so beloved by many. The writing sparkles and is a joy to read aloud, and Stuart himself is fairly charming; although his whimsical adventures may be a little unfocused and contain some unnecessary detail, they are mostly fun to experience. But that ending is a real head-scratcher and it feels like White had no idea where else to go with the story. My son immediately inquired about the next book in the series, and I was sorry to inform him that there wasn't one. Such a disappointment and an odd choice to leave such the results of Stuart's seemingly important search unanswered.

I'd give this a 2.5 if I could. I had heard on TikTok that Stuart Little wasn't a mouse, and according to the book he is not. Although occasionally referred to as one, he was born to human parents. Stuart is generally pleasant and steers boats, which is neat. He's infatuated with a bird named Margalo which is interesting considering he's a very mouse-like human. The chapters are mostly episodic, but the story doesn't really have an ending. Pleasant to read, but not a vibrant story.

When I read this book, I was expecting it to be funnier and more entertaining. This book doesn’t seem to be age-appropriate for kids because the mouse talks so formally. I don’t remember him talking like that in the movie or another book I remember reading. Maybe this is the oldest edition, but the mouse is a little too formal.

I prefer Charlotte’s Web because the characters drew me in. For example, Fern had a compassion in saving Wilbur. And Wilbur had a strong bond with his friends. The whole premise there caught my attention. I loved almost all of the characters. Oh, and the best part? They didn't talk too terribly formal.

Here in Stuart Little, the characters are kind of unforgettable, especially Stuart himself. He's kind, but a bit too kind. He's formal, but a bit too formal. The way things were played out seemed kind of tasteless to me.

Again, this doesn’t read like a kids book. No offense to the author, but I didn't enjoy the book.

Way better than that movie! Ugh!
