[REVIEW TO COME LATER UPON RE-READ.]

Best of the series so far. Great treatment of the cost of making ethical decisions. Parallels very nicely with other period pieces I'm reading now including a short piece on Wilberforce. I like the cameos from various historical players.

Solid overall, though still lacking the more lush narrative and complex characters I prefer. Nothing truly memorable or remarkable, but a good book nonetheless.

Yep, still *love* this series!
The dragons are sick, so Laurence and Temeraire set off to Africa to try to find the cure.
Cliff hanger at the end of this one. So glad I had book 5 on hand to continue immediately.

While the ending was a cliff-hanger, it was an odd one and felt more like the page and been torn away.

Otherwise, another excellent installment in this series. I love how Novik introduces and mulls over topics of discussion so well in this series and Empire of Ivory continued to not disappoint.

The best of the Temeraire series and still have 2 more published ones to go...can't wait for the "Victory of Eagles"

I tried. I really did.

I loved the first two Temeraire books. The third I really disliked. So much it took me years to pick up the fourth.

I read it. I enjoyed it, not as much as the first two but it was ok. Then about 250 pgs in, was a plot twist that I just did not buy and I cant' get past it. It is time to put the book down.

I'm giving it two stars for the beginning.

I thought I'd end up plodding through this one due to the terrifying amount of stuff I need to do in the next fortnight, but NO, this one just HAD to be my favourite in the series so far, and utterly distract me from my responsibilities for a paltry TWO DAYS, instead!!!!

An improvement over the last two installments!
