This was sitting at a 3 star for most of the reading experience, but the last 4th of the book dropped it down to a 2. The book was pretty meh for me, and then suddenly a graphic r*** scene appeared, and it and it's aftermath left me a little traumatized. Definitely not something I wanted to experience via audiobook

With how this book started, I thought it would end up as one of my favorites. Yet, it didn't. I would have loved it if it hadn't split in so many directions and the threads coming together wasn't as satisfying as I'd hoped.

Goodness, this was a challenging read at times. VERY dark and subject matter that was very heavy for sure. LaRocca has a way of sucking readers in with his narrative and writing style though and even when parts of this book were difficult to read, I couldn't stop.

A very strange tale as well and touched on some interesting topics regarding idol worship, religion, homophobia more.

Im left with many questions, however, I’m not sure that any answer would be satisfying.
