I actually think this series is quite different from what I have expected. I thought it would be like the royal spyness series but it turned out to be more political in nature and not just a simple cozy street mystery. The plot is okay and the new characters all have strong personalities, but I am disappointed there are so few interactions between Molly and Daniel. I will continue this series and give the next book a try.but at the moment, I think I like the Royal Spyness series more.

I like Molly Murphy all right, but I still definitely prefer Bowen's Inspector Evan Evans.
There was a plus in this book in that it's ending took on a real bit of American history--just skimming the surface, but making me want to learn more about this event.

Molly Murphy Mystery #2

The problem is that the author leaves things hanging....

Love Bowen's attention to detail--this is a believable early 20th century New York, and we explore it along with our wide-eyed heroine Molly. Molly does run the risk of becoming a bit too perfect to be true, but otherwise I enjoyed this light mystery. A fun read.

Always good to read about Molly! Reading from the beginning of the series gives me more insight to some of the characters.

I enjoyed this mystery set in 1900s Manhattan as the story is told from the perspective of a recent Irish immigrant woman who wants to be a private investigator at a time when such a thing was unheard of. The novel depicts various parts of Manhattan, dwelling on Greenwich Village. It integrates US history into the story line in a clever way.
