Wildfire by Hannah Grace
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

The second book in the Maple Hills series brings the heat - and I’m not just talking about the summer camp bonfires 🔥

Russ and Aurora have a chaotic one-night stand (iconic), part ways without so much as a last name… only to end up as co-counselors at the same summer camp. Cue awkward tension, undeniable chemistry, and a very inconvenient no-fraternizing rule 👀

I really enjoyed this one. Aurora is all fire and sass, while Russ is soft, swoony, and emotionally guarded in the best way. Their banter? Chef’s kiss. The camp setting gave it a nostalgic, outdoorsy vibe that balanced the steam with some wholesome summer magic. I also loved how both characters were dealing with real-life family issues, which gave the story more emotional depth than expected.

Perfect if you’re into:
💋 Accidental second chances
🏕 Forced proximity
❌ Forbidden romance
📚 And characters who grow through the fire

This was fun and light. Story was cute and steam was steamy.
I got a little frustrated at the climax of the book, but this book wasn’t meant to be literary genius.
The ending was cute. I like how the author has created her own little universe.
I will definitely read the next installment of Maple Hills. My hypothesis is that we can expect a book about Russ’ brother in the band next??? Who knows. Or Xander??
The banter and dialogue of these books are pretty great.

It's okay. A little boring. A little longer than it's supposed to be. My issue with this series is it does not invoke my emotions like I want it to. I really want to like it more but it's just okay. I like Xander the best. Russ and Rory sound like awesome people and their friends sound amazing. Their background stories are good. They have depth. I love that they fit like puzzle pieces together. But I can't really feel the emotions to this story.

I thoroughly enjoyed Wildfire, and Hannah Grace did a fantastic job with Russ and Aurora's story.

Starting with Russ, he was already a favorite from Icebreaker, and this book solidified my love for him. He truly embodies golden retriever energy, being sweet, kind, and adorably insecure at times. His blushes were a recurring highlight, and seeing him grow in confidence throughout the story was heartwarming.

Aurora is a beautifully crafted character. Her struggles with family issues added depth to her personality, and I appreciated how she and Russ bonded over their shared pain, even though their father-related problems were different. It gave their relationship a strong emotional foundation. Russ needs to feel "good enough," and Aurora craves "validation".

Their shared love for romance novels was such a sweet touch, and Aurora blended seamlessly into Russ's circle of friends. The prologue was the cherry on top. A satisfying, adorable conclusion that left me smiling.

However, I couldn't give the book a full five stars because it lacked a significant plot twist or conflict to keep me fully engaged. While the smaller issues and their miscommunications added some drama, the overall storyline felt a bit predictable at times.

Still, Wildfire is a cozy, heartfelt read that will leave you rooting for Russ and Aurora all the way.
