Needed this book for Summer Bingo - a book about summer camp & book about summer job. BINGO!
It was cute -I didn't read the first one, but don't really need to? Just assumed you knew who the outlying characters were and their stories. It was just okay I guess. Some spicy scenes/like these people are in college!? Some family relationship drama & addiction issues mentioned. I did appreciate the "9 years in the future" epilogue aka "where are they now". good touch!

I think Hannah Grace just became an "auto buy" author for me. I enjoyed "Icebreaker", but this one went above that. Grace has the "cozy" romance on lock. If you want a book where there's not a lot at stake, there isn't a second act breakup, and you enjoy falling in love with the characters and watching them grow, then this book is for you.
This book brought back camp nostalgia and I was here for it. But I also really related to our "golden retriever" MMC Russ and our broken and "needy" FMC Aurora. I have both of their personalities coexisting inside me to some extent, and I simply fell in love with them. Russ's need to hide his true self and be a locked vault was endearing. I think so many of us have been burned to that point. But, so much of me understood Rory's need to feel wanted and seen. Hannah Grace hit the nail on the head with how that comes out when you've desired such things from a parent for so long.
One of the best parts of Grace's books, though, is that they grow and become more mature adults in a healthy way. It's almost like "here's how it could be if you let it". That made it a cozy read for me. I wasn't stressed about what was happening or going to happen, it was just a "feel good" read. Also, LOVED that she even poked a little fun at the "miscommunication" trope. I DESPISE miscommunication in a novel. Rory's commitment to not be "miscommunicators" gave me life.
The only downside, which I didn't hate, is that Hannah Grace loves her sex scenes. This one wasn't as spicy as "Icebreaker", but it was still up there compared to other books I have read. I think there's about 4-5 scenes, so I'd label that a spice level of 3/5.
