Really fascinating. I feel like I learned so much about myself and feel not so crazy anymore. Not the most life changing book I've ever read but it was really helpful to give me some language around how I function.
consumed this as an ebook in 2 huge happy gulps. fantastic and to-the-point, great writing made for an effortless read. i got this ebook as a free gift from a WSJ student membership and wasn't expecting much, but turns out i identify very much as being a "multipotentiate", so much so that i couldn't stop reading.
well-meaning family members and mentors have already ingrained in me to pursue the "Einstein approach" as the career model (find one secure job and indulge in the creative hobbies outside of it), but it's great to see it in context to other career models.
aside from the clear writing itself, the structure was useful and easy to follow. part 1 focused on defining and describing the multipotentiate; readers can probably identify at this stage whether this book resonates with them or not. part 2 details the different proposed work models for multipotentiates (i skimmed/skipped the models that don't apply to me), and part 3 discusses common psychological obstacles and ways to get around them.
i think it'd be worth getting a physical copy of the book to have around and flip through once in a while for some inspiration.
timely to finish it on new year's day - may try drafting a list of "priority activities" and "activities waiting in the wings" to set my focus for the new year.

There were bits and parts that I really liked in between parts that were just ok. The writing activities at the end of each chapter provide clever questions to get you thinking about your passions, interests, and superpowers.
Better than most self-awareness books. Fast and easy read.

This was good. It had worksheets - even with the audiobook - and the author explains what lists to make and ideas to brainstorm. I think it could be really helpful for some people, if you like doing a lot of things or change your interest often. It’s nice to know there’s others who do, too. Already recommended it to someone!

I have to open four to five books at the same time, from fictional crime to futurism to self-improvement to social observation; it goes without saying that I'm a multipotentialite. Back to my college days with insecurity of self-identity, I might be more interested in the first part of this book about self-recognition as multipotentialite. Although many examples are not very convincing (most of them - musicians, writers, web developers e.t.c - are crafters; it's hard to judge whether they desire variety or the profession is simply poorly defined), this book is essentially a workbook. It's like, deep down, you KNOW what you want for your trip but at any single moment, you always forget one item or two; therefore a checklist is nice to have. I do like the exercises in this book, very concrete, very actionable.
Looking back my career choices, I have already tried the Slash, the Einstein, and the Phoenix model. Currently I'm endeavouring to integrate many of my interests into a data science career, i.e the Group Hug model. In the near future I'll revisit some chapters.
