Thank you, NetGalley, for the opportunity to read My Best Friend’s Honeymoon by Meryl Wilsner.

I was really excited to pick up this book—the concept sounded so promising—but, unfortunately, I didn’t enjoy it as much as I had hoped.

The ending felt abrupt, and not everything was fully resolved or given enough time to develop. For example, what happened to Elsie’s ex? Was she able to get her parents to understand her? It also felt like Elsie didn’t truly stand up for herself until the very end.

Ginny and Elsie’s dynamic during the honeymoon also felt a bit off to me. I understood why Ginny went along with everything—both because it was Elsie’s honeymoon and because Ginny was in love with her—but I wish there had been more discussion around consent rather than just diving into things. Given the short timeframe, I understand why the romance developed quickly, but I was expecting more emotional connection. Instead, there was far more focus on sex than I anticipated for what I thought would be a romantic honeymoon getaway.

Perhaps Meryl’s spiciest book? I read this book in a day. Switched between the e-book and audiobook. I LOVE a friends to lovers and this book did not disappoint. The romance felt fast paced but the characters had been friends with ~hidden~ feelings for ten years. Also a masc, plus-sized, nonbinary main character *chef’s kiss* This book brought me a lot of joy. AND I WILL SAY IT AGAIN THE 🌶️SPICE🌶️
I need to go to an all inclusive LGBTQ resort after this read.
stunnin! amazing! 💯!
  • “Ginny knows what they want: as much of Elsie as they can have, for as long as they can have her. It’s hard to give relationship advice to someone you’re in love with.”
  • “‘But I don’t want to go back to being friends and pretending like I’m not in love with you.’”
  • “‘But if I could have anything I want?’ She shrugs, because it’s so obvious. ‘I want to kiss you every day for the rest of my life.’”

Very sweet! Resolved a bit too quick, but I would definitely recommend it.
