You know that social media trend that’s like “name a romance couple that definitely broke up after the end of the book”? That’s absolutely Elsie and Ginny, but that’s not going to stop me from having fun reading this book. The pacing was weird, the world felt small, but it was sweet and silly. Also, goddamn, it is so nice reading queer sex written by a queer person. I should do that more.

Nothing special. 0 yearning or stakes. Writing wasn’t very good.

The best part of this book is, by far, the sex scenes. The plot before the 3rd Act Breakup/Fight was ok, afterwards was pretty bonkers. I liked Ginny’s arc, but Elsie’s “figuring out what she really wanted” arc including doubling down with her involvement with her family who did not respect her choices was insane. In my opinion the way to demonstrate you’re an independent adult with ideas that can be respected is to be independent from your family, especially one as clingy as hers. Instead, she moved back in with them and changed her dad’s mind with a well designed PowerPoint. I think she needed separation from living and working with them.

Sometimes you just need a steamy romance novel to lift your spirits.
