fun & lighthearted. the 3rd act breakup felt forced, but it wrapped up well. happy ending :)

I almost threw this book across the room when the third quarter break up happened. It pissed me off so much lol so I was glad that someone yelled at one of the characters and was like "you're an idiot"

Still, not my favorite Meryl Wilsner. The pacing felt a bit off. But I enjoyed the characters and the sex scenes were great.

This was okay, but I didn’t really feel the emotional connection between the two lead characters. There was a lot of telling and not showing; lots of paragraphs of them gushing about how much they care about each other without a lot of examples provided. The lack of emotional connection made the sex scenes (which took up the whole middle of the book) feel boring and repetitive to me. I usually like how Wilsner writes physical intimacy, but it just felt a little forced in this one.
I also really struggled to root for Elsie. Despite her whole arc being “she needs to put herself first” it seems like that’s ALL she did. She struck me as the type of person that talks about how selfless they are when they’re actually extremely selfish. Ginny deserves better.

The sex scenes in this were… very well done. Friends to lovers isn’t always my favorite romance trope but I thought this was really well done and even though I was like **just talk to each other!!** the stakes and anxieties preventing them from doing so actually made sense. I liked seeing them grow into more full versions of themselves.
